Introduction

In 2023, the Ophthalmological Center named after S.V. Malayan turned 45 years old. The Ophthalmological Center is the direct successor of the Republican Glaucoma-Trachomatous Dispensary, created in 1952 by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, which in 1978 was transferred to a new, separate, fully equipped building. This institution was named the Republican Dispensary for Eye Diseases, which was later renamed the Republican Ophthalmological Center in 1986, and since 1998 has been called the Ophthalmological Center after S.V. Malayan in honor of one of the founders of ophthalmology in Armenia, Professor Sergey Malayan.

Me, Hovsep Mihran Miroyan, director of the Ophthalmological Center named after S.V. Malayan.
I invite you to participate in the conference dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the creation of our Ophthalmological Center.
The center established in 1978, it is the immediate successor of the Republican Glaucoma-Trachomatous Dispensary, founded in 1952 by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.
The Ophthalmological Center named after S.V. Malayan employed highly qualified specialists, most of whom have undergone training abroad. Doctors of our center annually take part in scientific conferences, national and international congresses, often as lecturers.
Currently, the ophthalmological center is the largest specialized ophthalmological institution in Armenia.
The Center has eight specialized departments. We provide complete ophthalmological diagnostics of the visual organ.
Each year approximately 40,000 patients receive highly qualified and specialized care in the OC, of which about 13,000 with inpatient admission.
The Center has 8 operating units, completely renovated in 2023, equipped with modern phacoemulsifiers, vitreotomes, microscopes and all the necessary modern equipment and instruments from famous manufacturers in the world, where about 9,000 inpatient and about 1,000 outpatient operations are performed annually․ Among them a considerable percentage are patients from near and far abroad.
Center performs the full range of microsurgical and laser operations for strabismus, glaucoma, using implants and bypasses, minimally invasive antiglaucoma operations, operations for cataracts with implantation of both monofocal and multifocal,as well as toric artificial intraocular lenses, the entire scope of vitreoretinal operations, all types of keratoplasties, including implantation of corneal implants and keratoprosthesis, corneal ring implantation, eyelid and orbital operations.
Equipped with the latest technology, which is constantly updated, gives an opportunity to do scientific work to be carried out that meets international standards.
Many employees of our center are PhD`s, doctors of medical sciences and professors. The Center is the largest educational and postgraduate base of the Yerevan State Medical University after Mkh. Heratsi.
All these years have been years of discoveries, researches and achievements. We have something to be proud of and more to share with colleagues.
This year we celebrate the jubilee and wish to share our joy with you.

On December 14-17, 2023 will take place International Conference dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Ophthalmological Center after S.V. Malayan, where will be presented materials from the 45-year work of the Ophthalmological Center, especially innovations of the last five years, that we can be proud of.
